Federated Church brings back candlelight tradition

Published: Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

On Sunday, the Federated Church choir will once again present the updated version of the Christmas Candlelight Service made popular by Walter Hauswald and the choir from the mid 1940s through the late 1970s.

Originally held at 5 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon, the service was revised last year and will be presented during the regular 10 a.m. worship service. The service features a reading of the Christmas story augmented with a candle-lighting segment and various carols and anthems by the choir.

All members of the community are invited to attend this service of worship and music as the congregation prepares for Christmas and the coming of Jesus.

Federated Church is an open and affirming congregation located at 612 W. State St. (Route 64), with parking available behind the building, off of Greeley Street. For more information, visit sycamorefederatedchurch.org or call the church office at 815-895-2706.
