St. John’s in Creston plans Lenten events

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 126 E. South St. in Creston, will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a Mardi Gras-style dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The meal will include jambalaya, red beans and rice, pralines and other New Orleans specialties. Entertainment will be provided by the DeKalb High School Jazz Band.

The Ash Wednesday service with Imposition of Ashes will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Lenten services in the series titled, “When is Enough – Enough?,” will take place Wednesdays through March 20. A soup and sandwich supper will be offered at 6 p.m., followed by the service at 7 p.m.
