Rochelle looks to solar power for energy needs

Published: Tuesday, April 2, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

ROCHELLE – The utility company in Rochelle is looking to add solar power to its electricity sources.

Rochelle owns the Rochelle Municipal Utility. But WNIJ radio in DeKalb reported that growth in manufacturing and other businesses has meant the city has had to buy extra electricity from elsewhere.

Rochelle’s business and financial analyst Dan Westin said that can be expensive.

Instead, Westin said solar power could be a small but significant part of the city’s energy supply.
