Brittany Hoffman and Rachel McBride, officers for the Northern Illinois University Student Dietetic Association, presented $2,670 in checks and a ceramic bowl to Gary Chapman, assistant director for Hope Haven. The funds were the result of the 15th annual Empty Bowls event supported by members of the NIU Student Dietetic Association, who do the cooking, and the NIU Ceramics Club members, who make the bowls. More than 100 people attended this year’s event – each attendee essentially provided a night of shelter for someone in need.
