50th anniversary

Gary and Jacki McLaughlin of DeKalb are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married June 22, 1963, in the Prebyterian Church in Paw Paw.

Gary retired from the Illinois Toll Authority and The American Midwest Bank. Jacki was an area Realtor for 24 years.

They have three daughters, Michelle (Jim) Bohlig of Sycamore, Gay Lynn (Tim) Wons of Naperville and Megan (Tom) Petit of Sycamore. They also have eight grandchildren.

50th anniversary

Neil and Doris (Kitner) Miller will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 235 S. Green St., Somonauk.

The couple was married June 29, 1963, at First Lutheran Church, Plano, by the Rev. E. Leonard Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to come celebrate with them. Please omit gifts.

90th birthday

Virgil S. Grzywa will celebrate his 90th birthday at an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. June 23 at the Maple Park Shelter House on Washington Street in Maple Park.

Virgil and his family grew up and farmed in Maple Park and retired in Arizona in 1984. He worked for more than 20 years at Northern Illinois University.  

Please stop by for cake and conversation. He would love to see all his old friends and their families.

Beckman-Sherman

Bill and Sharon (Daffield) Beckman of St. Charles announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Elizabeth, to Matthew Sherman, the son of Randy and Maureen Sherman of Sycamore.

The bride-to-be is a 2000 graduate of St. Charles High School and is employed at Jewel-Osco in Elburn.

The groom-to-be is a 2002 graduate of Genoa-Kingston High School and is employed at the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb.

The couple plan to wed on Aug. 31, 2013, in Batavia.
