SYCAMORE -- TCF National Bank is saying goodbye to its branches in the Elburn and Sycamore Jewel-Osco locations.

The bank announced Wednesday they are closing 37 locations in Chicago-area Jewel-Oscos by the end of March 2014 in order to better serve their customers.

The TCF branches inside the Sycamore Jewel-Osco, 220 W. Peace Road; and Elburn Jewel-Osco, 800 N. Main St., were on the list.

"We're working with employees who are part of the branch with the intent to try to retain as many of them as possible, inviting them to apply to other roles within TCF," said Mark Goldman, TCF Bank director of corporate communications.

The same announcement included news that TCF will open 52 ATMs in the Chicago area at Chicago Transit Authority "L" train stations throughout the city.

Following these additions, TCF will have approximately 156 branch locations and more than 270 ATMs throughout the Chicago area, according to a TCF Bank news release.

Goldman said the decision was made after an extensive review of the entire branch network of how to best optimize the footprint of branches.

The TCF Bank in DeKalb's Jewel-Osco, 1320 Sycamore Road, will remain at that location.
