Hinckley-Big Rock grad earns conference honor

Hinckley-Big Rock graduate and Loras College sophomore guard Kaitlin Phillips was named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Phillips, a sophomore point guard on the Loras College women’s basketball team, averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists as the Duhawks posted a pair of victories to remain undefeated in league play at 8-0.

She had 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals in 37 minutes as Loras defeated Wartburg, 89-75, on Jan. 29. Phillips added 15 points and four rebounds in a 58-42 win over Central (Iowa) on Sat.
